Severe Weather Plan
Smoky Hill RV Park

Know where to go before a storm develops. Your safety is our top priority — please review this plan and save it before you need it.

🚨

RVs Are Not Safe Shelter During Tornadoes

In the event of a tornado warning, you must leave your RV immediately and move to the designated storm shelter. Do not wait for the tornado to be visible — act at the first warning.

⚡ When to Evacuate Your RV

  • A tornado WARNING is issued for Geary County or the Junction City / Grandview Plaza area
  • You receive an emergency alert on your phone (WEA) indicating a tornado in the area
  • Park management or staff directs you to take shelter
  • Tornado sirens are activated (tested every Monday at noon — all other activations are real)
  • A funnel cloud or tornado is spotted nearby — do not wait for official confirmation

Important Reminders

Know Your Shelter Now

Locate the bathhouse on your first day. In a real emergency you won’t have time to search — knowing the route in advance could save your life.

Monday Noon Siren Test

Geary County tests tornado sirens every Monday at noon. If sirens sound at any other time — or during any overcast weather — treat it as a real event and take shelter immediately.

Watch vs. Warning

A Watch means conditions are favorable — stay alert. A Warning means a tornado has been detected or spotted — move to shelter now.
