Severe Weather Plan
Smoky Hill RV Park
Know where to go before a storm develops. Your safety is our top priority — please review this plan and save it before you need it.
⚡ When to Evacuate Your RV
- A tornado WARNING is issued for Geary County or the Junction City / Grandview Plaza area
- You receive an emergency alert on your phone (WEA) indicating a tornado in the area
- Park management or staff directs you to take shelter
- Tornado sirens are activated (tested every Monday at noon — all other activations are real)
- A funnel cloud or tornado is spotted nearby — do not wait for official confirmation
Where to Go During a Tornado
Park Bathhouse — On-Site Storm Shelter
The Smoky Hill RV Park bathhouse serves as the designated storm shelter for all guests. The bathhouse is a permanent, interior structure — the safest location on the property during severe weather. Go there immediately when a warning is issued.

Important Reminders
Locate the bathhouse on your first day. In a real emergency you won’t have time to search — knowing the route in advance could save your life.
Geary County tests tornado sirens every Monday at noon. If sirens sound at any other time — or during any overcast weather — treat it as a real event and take shelter immediately.
A Watch means conditions are favorable — stay alert. A Warning means a tornado has been detected or spotted — move to shelter now.
If directed by staff to evacuate, do so immediately. Questions or need assistance? Call us at (785) 236-8789.
